Memorial Day 2009

Caden watching the parade...something is mesmerizing him...could it be a fire truck?
Caden with Auntie Kelly, Adelaide's godmother and my forever friend.

Every year we look forward to seeing Jason march in the Memorial Day parade. We weren't sure if we would make it this year since Addie is still so little, but it was a nice day so we ventured out. Caden enjoyed watching all the fire trucks, motorcycles, "po-po" (police) cars, and even some oversized tractors. Here is our first family photo with Addie in it...too bad her face is covered up!
Every year when I see Jay march in his uniform, I am reminded of how proud I am of him. Tears always seem to come to my eyes when I see him marching. He risks his life to help save others and he truly is our hero. Of course, seeing him in his uniform reminds me of how sexy he can be, too! :-)

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day. Please don't forget the real reason for Memorial Day. We are all blessed to live in a country where so many people are willing to risk their lives for our freedom. Thank you to all the brave service men and women who fight for our country today and to all those who have fought and lost their lives in the past.

Lilacs are blooming

Lilacs in our yard. I wish they could bloom all year long.
I think Daddy is more tired than Mommy these days.

Don't even think about taking my binkie!

My first car ride home from the hospital

Is it okay if I give her a kiss??

My favorite time of year is when the lilacs in our yard bloom. Their smell is like a little bit of heaven :-) I find it ironic that as baby Adelaide entered the world, the lilacs in our yard began to bloom. As we took Addie out of our car to bring her home for the first time, I had to stop and smell the lilacs to remind myself of the many blessings we have in our lives and of the beauty that God brings into our world, too.
The first few days at home have been busy, but great. Addie had a rough start - I think she was very hungry those first two days on Earth. I guess that is what happens when you give birth to a 9 pound baby. She is finally sleeping better and seems to have adjusted to breastfeeding quite well. Unfortunately I feel like a cow - LOL. Jay and I have spent many hours just holding her and letting her sleep in our arms. There is no better feeling in the world than that. I feel so lucky to have so much time away from work to enjoy my little girl and my big boy, Caden. Going back in September will be hard, but I am not going to worry about that yet!

She's Here!!!

Adelaide Jacqueline Mitchell entered the world today at 12:38pm weighing 9 lbs. 1 oz (just like her brother) and 21 and 1/2 inches long! My contractions started around 1am last night, so we called the doc around 4am and Grammy Pammy rushed over to watch Caden while we were off to the hospital. I was only 1 cm dilated when we arrived around 5:30am and we thought it was going to be a long wait. The doc thought about sending us home, but took a chance to keep me here since my labor with Caden progressed so quickly. Good thing he did! Caden stopped by with Grammy and his aunties around 10:30am and as we were doing laps around the maternity floor, my water broke. Contractions came on hard and fast after that, but I am proud to say that I pushed only 2 times and out Addie came! No drugs again - just like Caden but it did hurt a lot more this time!!

Addie is healthy. We are so blessed and we want to thank everyone for their prayers. I prayed each night that Addie would arrive safely and she certainly did.

Here are just a few pics from our day. We will post many more in the days to come.

Baby update

Well still no baby as of today. Yesterday was my due date. I am feeling contractions, but nothing consistent. The doctor checked me today and I am showing no real signs of labor....so I go back on the 18th and will be induced on the 19th if Addie hasn't arrived by then. I have been praying that Addie would come when she was ready, so I am hoping she will arrive before Tuesday. So even though I am growing impatient waiting for her, I just want what is best for all of us. So please keep us in your prayers!

Hopefully our next post will be announcing her arrival!
