In memory of Xena

Hello everyone - Well this is a different post than the usual happy news. Unfortunately we had to put our favorite dog in the whole wide world to rest today. Xena was 12 years old and we were lucky to have shared all of those years with her. She recently developed some tumors and the vet advised us today that she was only going to go downhill from here...so we thought it best to put her to rest rather than let her suffer. Jay and I feel awful to have made that decision for her, but we know that she is in a better place now and are happy to know that she is not suffering. Caden knows that Xena is up in Heaven with God and he thinks she has wings like all the angels :-)

We will miss Xena for many reasons. She was a funny and loyal dog...we couldn't have asked for a better one. She loved to chase squirrels and watch TV with us in her prime days. She even chased the cars and animals on the TV. That was quite hilarious! If she heard the theme song to the show "COPS" on TV, she would come running...maybe she will be a police dog up in Heaven. Anyone that met her knows why we are so sad to lose her...and if you didn't meet her....you missed out on a great dog :-)

Until we meet her again in Heaven one day, we will always have our other dog, Molly. She is as nutty as they come and her energy fills our house even on the gloomiest of days. I sometimes wonder if she helped to keep Xena around for as long as she did. We love you Z-Z! You will always be in our hearts.

A friend of Jason's sent him this below...for anyone that has lost a pet...we understand and know we will meet them on the other side some day :-)

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Is spring here yet??

I can crawl now and love getting into anything I can get my hands on!

Future hockey player?? Daddy hopes so!

Watching the snow fall outside

Our short-lived snowman

Last year Caden hated the snow...now we can't get him out of it!

Well we had a few warm days here, but now we have seen nothing but rain for the past 48 hours! I am on vacation for the next two weeks so I hope the sun will come out so we can enjoy some time outside. Jason and I are taking Caden into NYC for his 3rd birthday on Friday. We can't believe that he is 3 already!! He really wants to go on a choo-choo train....I think Jay and I are even more excited than him. We hope the weather will be warm and sunny. Another exciting bit of news is that Addie finally started crawling yesterday - let the fun begin!! She is already into all of Caden's toys. He has been a pretty good sport, though.

We hope to have seen our last bit of snow...but at least we were able to build a huge snowman with the last storm. He was short lived and his head toppled over less than an hour after building him. Caden had fun helping daddy until we put his fire hat on top...he threw a fit and ended up inside for a nap :-)

We tried to take Caden skating but he didn't last for more than two minutes. He really enjoyed walking around the house in his skates, but not so much on the ice!
We hope spring will be here soon! Check back in the next week or two for pictures of Caden's birthday and our trip to NYC.
